From August 30 to September 1, INDOWATER Expo & Forum 2023 in Jakarta opened its doors for a global meeting of experts from the water and wastewater industry, with more than 650 exhibitors from over 30 countries. Within this international industry meeting, German Water Partnership (GWP) played a central role and for the first time not only managed the German joint appearance at the German Pavilion in Jakarta, but also represented the GWP network. The GWP members who formed the German Pavilion as part of the joint participation included NIVUS GmbH, TriOS Mess- und Datentechnik GmbH, Rädlinger primus line GmbH, MANN+HUMMEL and omerastore GmbH. Together, they presented innovative and sustainable solutions that the German water industry has to offer.
This year’s event was also special because it was held in parallel with national trade fairs for waste management, renewable energy, safety and fire protection, and the Smart City Forum. This Integrated Technology Event showcased the latest technology developments, smart cities and their infrastructure. This created a platform for interested parties and stakeholders to showcase investment opportunities for the development of sustainable smart cities in the country with the fourth largest population in the world.
Strengthening political and diplomatic ties
The event was enriched by the presence of Muhammad Tito Karnavian, Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Indonesia, who also emphasized the importance of international partnerships at the opening ceremony. Minister Karnavian was warmly welcomed at the German Pavilion, where he exchanged views with our regional representative Fabian Fischer and learned about the technologies presented there. In addition, Jan Groschoff, the representative of the German Embassy in Indonesia, took the opportunity to get to know the extensive network and the impressive activities of the represented member companies during his visit to the joint booth.
Outlook for a promising future
Indonesia’s water sector faces numerous challenges, which will increase further with the construction of a new capital city on the island of Borneo. Addressing these therefore not only requires significant investment in water infrastructure and careful planning, but equally increases the need for know-how and technology to ensure sustainable water management in the face of increasing urbanization and population growth.
INDOWATER Expo & Forum provides a unique platform for networking, establishing contacts and creating synergies in the global water industry. GWP is proud to be an integral part of this regionally and internationally significant event. We are already looking forward to next year’s event in 2024, where we will once again represent our network and develop new synergies that contribute to the advancement of water and sustainability technologies.
