Worldwide, the regionally diverse impacts of climate change are leading to increased and intensified extreme weather events, particularly posing a heightened threat of floods or water stress in urban areas. These natural disasters not only cause significant ecological damage but also present an immense burden on the global economy, with floods following storms being the natural disaster with the highest overall economic damages worldwide. Against this backdrop, German Water Partnership (GWP) has intensified its strategic efforts and is now dedicated to promoting water resilience in urban areas.
Our Objectives
- Identification of Financing and Project Opportunities: We are seeking diverse sources of financing and developing business concepts to support innovative projects for urban water resilience.
- Consortium Building and Project Initiation: By forming partnerships and initiating projects, we aim for a holistic approach to jointly develop and implement solutions for the challenges of urban water resilience.
- Promotion of Exchange and Development of Best Practices: We foster the continuous exchange of knowledge and experiences between members and external experts to identify, disseminate, and further develop best practices.
- Networking and Contacts: The AG aims to actively promote networking among members to strengthen exchange and collaboration. The goal is to establish significant relationships with government agencies to have a direct impact on policy decisions.
- Needs Identification: The AG will intensively analyze needs and specific market conditions in different regions to develop targeted measures.
