Operation and Capacity Development

Good water supply and wastewater disposal requires, in addition to suitable technology, people in suitable organizations with the right know-how of applications and operations. The working group “Utility Know-how” is committed to building up the necessary capacities for sustainable water management internationally: in politics, associations, companies as well as in local water supply and disposal companies.

The working group focuses on the topics of the Strategy for Capacity Development in the Water Sector, which German Water Partnership has developed together with its partner ministries in the water sector.

In keeping with the motto “Qualified in Germany”, Germany wants to establish itself as a leading provider of capacity development in the water sector, support development policy reforms in the water sector and expand export opportunities for companies. One focus of our work is to make the know-how of public and private operators in the German water sector more usable in developing and emerging countries.
