The Professional Association for Process Plant and Equipment is one of 35 specialised departments within the VDMA e.V. and represents the interests of more than 375 predominantly German manufacturers of equipment, machinery, and systems for process engineering. The association is divided into various specialist departments representing suppliers of technology for the chemical industry, energy sources (gases and fluids), and water and wastewater technology.

With their 46,700 employees, the companies represent a production volume of €10.7 billion (2023). German process engineering machinery exports account for 14.2 percent of the global market share.
