German Pavilion at Vietwater 2022: 3 days, 13 German companies and one award

Vietwater 2022 took place in Ho Chi Minh City from 9 to 11 November and provided an opportunity for representatives from many countries in the region and beyond to present themselves, exchange experiences and showcase technologies with the aim of promoting business cooperation and advancing the development of the water and environmental industries in Vietnam.

Opening ceremony with high-ranking guests

The opening ceremony of Vietwater 2022 was attended by high-ranking guests from ministries, as well as representatives from international pavilions, leading industry associations and more than 50 media representatives. In addition to Ms Trần Thị Hồng Lan, Deputy Director, State Agency for Technological Innovation (SATI), Ministry of Science and Technology Vietnam, Mr Nguyễn Hữu Tiến, Permanent Vice Chairman, Vietnam Urban Environment and Industrial Zone Association, Sarah Hooper, Consul General at the Australian Consulate General, Ho Chi Minh City, Dr. Nguyễn Ngọc Linh, President of the Vietnam Association For Safe Water and Environmental Sanitation and Sam Wood, Deputy Consul General and Head of Trade and Investment, British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, Julia Braune, Managing Director of German Water Partnership e.V. also attended the opening ceremony of the trade fair.

The German joint stand at Vietwater this year received the award for the most innovative exhibition stand – thanks to the 13 exhibiting German companies presenting their innovative technologies for the water and wastewater sector in Vietnam. It was also an honour to receive the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City, Dr Josefine Wallat, at Vietwater. She showed great interest in the current topics of the water sector and the German technologies presented on site when she visited the German Pavilion together with GWP Managing Director Julia Braune and GSTT Chairman Prof. Jens Hölterhoff.

Strong presence of German companies in the supporting program

With his presentation on “Smart & Sustainable Water Solutions to adapt with climate change – Experience from Germany”, focusing on the possibilities of energy generation at wastewater treatment plants, GWP member and head of the China Regional Forum Prof. Martin Wagner was able to interest the audience. The official supporting programme also included the “Vietwater 2022 Technical Seminar” session organised by Informa Markets Vietnam. Here, members of GWP, along with other participants, presented current technologies and solutions in the fields of water supply, wastewater disposal, water resources and purification.

Julia Braune also seized the opportunity to meet longstanding and potential new international Partners of German Water Partnership and exchange on opportunities for future cooperation in Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, UK and Australia!

A successful trade show and hopefully a push for the German-Vietnamese business relations! See you all again in Ho Chi Minh City for the next Vietwater in October 2023!
