SDG Market Building is a pilot for investment promotion in Africa.

Together with partners from development cooperation and business in Germany and Africa, SDG Market Building promotes SDG-relevant
private investment. Based on a 3-pillar approach of project development, financing, and local market development, SDG Market Building initially focuses on the transfer of the project planning approach for investment promotion in the energy sector to the sectors of irrigation, mechanization, and agrophotovoltaics.

Kenya and Nigeria are the current focus countries.

Investment in irrigation offers potential in the areas of:

• Yield improvement
• Resource efficiency
