Engagement in Vietnam true to the motto of World Water Day 2019: Leave no one behind

German Water Partnership organizes German-Vietnamese Water Forum

This year’s World Water Day’s motto: “leaving no one behind – water and sanitation for all”. True to this motto, the network German Water Partnership (GWP) with its approximately 350 members has has been committed to solving water and wastewater challenges worldwide for more than ten years. By providing know-how and sustainable water technologies GWP is contributing to the improvement of water supply and sanitation in developing and emerging countries. The partnerships with water boards in Vietnam, Jordan and the Côte d’Ivoire are of particular importance.

For the fifth time GWP together with the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA), organized a German-Vietnamese Water Forum. German companies from the water sector are meeting Vietnamese partners, ministries and potential customers in Hanoi (Vietnam) on 19th and 20th March 2019 to discuss current water management challenges and possible solutions. The deputy mayor of Hanoi, Nguyen The Hung, and the German ambassador to Vietnam, Christian Berger opened the forum. The city of Hanoi is pursuing ambitious investment plans and expressed special interest in German technology and innovative solutions in the areas of wastewater, rainwater and surface water management, water loss reduction and drinking water standards.

“We create networks and bring together providers of sustainable solutions with decision makers in our partner countries. This is the way sustainability goals worldwide and tangible results for the population and the environment can be achieved “, says Julia Braune, Managing Director of German Water Partnership.

The partnership of GWP and the VWSA was established in 2013 and is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The network GWP unites around 350 private and public companies from the water sector as well as trade associations and institutions from industry, science and research. With adapted and sustainable approaches, GWP contributes to solving water management problems worldwide. The network combines the activities, information and innovations of the German water sector and thus strengthens its competitive position on international markets. The five federal ministries for environment, research, development, economics and the Federal Foreign Office support the activities of GWP.
