German foundations are active in the water sector in many ways – including in developing and emerging countries. Companies in the water sector may profit from cooperations with foundations as well as from starting a foundation of their own.
In Germany, there are currently around 23,000 organizations with the legal status of a fountation with a total of 68bn Euro known capital. In recent years some of the foundations with an international purpose have adopted water issues in developing and emerging countries. In most cases, these foundations pursue charitable purposes.
Companies can submit grant applications for projects. They can use the potential of foundations as initiators, networkers and innovators. Foundations offer themselves as project partners through many years of local experience. In addition, the founding of an own corporate foundation can make sense.
At the → German Foundation Day from 5 to 7 June 2019 in Mannheim, you can talk directly to foundations and discuss ways of working together. An overview of German foundations can be found in the → search function of the Association of German Foundations (Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen). The German Foundation Center (Deutsches Stiftungszentrum) advises on founding issues. For questions around development cooperation (German: Entwicklungszusammenarbeit, EZ) you may contact EZ-Scout → Dr. med. Katharina Braig.
