Work areas: As Advisor for International Programs, Julia Egel is in charge of the Regional Section Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA) as well as the pilot project “Sustainable Utility Partnerships”, financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). In addition, she oversees the Working Group Operation & Capacity Development.
Background: Julia Egel holds university degrees in European Studies, International Relations and Central Asian Studies. Her interest in the EECCA region became apparent early on and due to longer stays in Russia and Azerbaijan as well as various travels, she was able to acquire intensive regional expertise. Her further experience includes the fields of energy transition, international cooperation, foreign trade promotion and event management. Prior to joining GWP, she completed several internships (including at a German Embassy), worked for a German Chamber of Commerce abroad, and most recently worked in Berlin in the field of energy transition.
Language skills: German, English, Russian, Persian, basic French.
Water means to me: water is a source of life and energy and plays an important role in global health and keeping peace. The protection, access and treatment of this valuable resource as well as the necessary international cooperation must be top priority to ensure a sustainable, clean and safe future.
